The past 3 weeks I have been in and out of the community family hospital – from indigestion to rashes and even skin asthma. It is imperative that I become very positive amidst all these circumstances if only to sow seeds of optimism – a solid foundation of immersing myself in to the SOURCE – GOD. Now the good things, besides the fact that I have been getting a lot of jeepney rides (which I really love), I saw this absolutely profound article written by a contemporary of mine. It is entitled, ‘Memo from a child.’ This will be the first of a series of articles since if I remember it right, there are 21 points written there. Let us jump right in the first 2 points.
Memo number 1: Don’t spoil me, I know quite well that I ought not have all that I ask for, I’m only testing you.
Well, there goes our age old secret. I guess now I know why the author kept himself/herself anonymous.
Memo number 2 : Don’t be afraid to be firm with me, I prefer it. It makes me feel more secure.
Come to think of it, my mama and papa are disciplinarians (bordering strictness). I think we kids, in our excitement to discover new things have become sometimes pushy. We think that if we cry or throw tantrums we will get what we want. But a lot of times we really don’t know what we are getting into. I agree with this point – security with my parents is one of the things that I truly value.

It was the seventh day of March 2007 – I have been practicing my song for the last 2 weeks. I easily breezed through the eliminations. There were a roomful of 4 and 5 year old kids who all wanted to do a Philippine idol spiel. For me, I just wanted to get to know how it feels to sing in front of people I don’t know. With my cd ready (we couldn’t find any minus ones around so we settled with the pirated 1) and my nervous mama and papa in tow – we headed for the stage. I could tell that my mama was more nerve-wrecked that I was. Btw, the song title was ‘When I met you’ by the Apo Hiking Society. I thought it was going to be a Barney song but my Mama and Papa wanted me to sing their theme song. I felt a little comfortable on stage (as I even did the indian sit while I was listening to the first contestant – i was the second contestant). Then when it was my turn, I just sang with all my heart – it felt good inside. So good that I had to cough once or twice in between the chorus and the first stanza. My mama was busy shooting pictures while my papa was holding his breath (though he just gazed at me like it was only me and him in the whole school). It wasn’t bad after all. But the whole experience was so memorable. Now I am looking forward to a new singing career! Ehem ehem…

These days because of the blistering heat, my baby skin is getting irritated. I could melt a hershey’s mini bar on my forhead outside our house before Barney can even finish singing the “old mcdonald” song. My mom is making me drink the anti histamine stuff. Now that makes me cool – not drugged but cool. Just last thursday night, Meralco – in all its power suddenly pulled the plug over the whole town. Because I am running a business, I make it point to always check out the Meralco website for these unannounced scheduled (if you dont get that maybe a 5ml of anti histamine will help you out) brownouts. Now that really turned on the heat. So the next day me and my mom along with my tita, my cousin, my ate and my lola tiptoed our way to the nearest and cleanest pool in town – Hillspa.

My 5 year old kid today during supper’s dessert started talking about how he learned to eat cake by himself during one of his previous classmates birthday. Its cute, he just keeps on bragging about it. He loves to talk about his buddies in school like they are in some kind of corporation running a business. And just like in the corporate world, one day they are buddies and the next day – they become each other’s pain in the butt!
I am learning about stocks (Philippine stocks) these days. I find it amusing to learn to read all those charts. ITs nice to think that an average small businessman like me can own part of huge companies such as PLDT, BPI and that basketball team that I despised most during my puberty days – Ginebra. Yes those tight fitting shorts with matching long thick wavy hair. The daily rush of those stock prices moving up and down is such a testosterone kicker that makes it all worth learning. Place your bets!
